Default Can't connect to login server

Problem started at ca. 3:00am (CST) this morning. Didn't see any thread complaining here or on p99 forums so I figured problem must be at my end. I had been logged into p99 yesterday evening so it was rather sudden (no, I didn't make any changes to my network, just logged off for a few hours.)

I checked my eqhosts.txt, it's there and it has the correct content.

I checked my shortcut, it's still the same as it has been.

I ran multiple malware detectors (AVG, Malwarebytes, & Spybot) which all turned up nothing.

Shut down all the machines in the house and power-cycled my DSL modem/wireless-router to force it to reset. Still nogo.

Same error every time: "A connection to the server could not be reached..."

Have tried both LOGIN and QUICK CONNECT, no difference (not that I expected any.)

I have occasionally had this error before when there were local network issues, but my LAN and internet connection both appear to be running without issue at present.

Any suggestions?

A bit of additional info...

Browser works fine (obviously.)

Attempted to play NWN online and the GameSpy server list did not populate.

Has anybody got any suggestions at all?

Bullied some poor CenturyLink CSR into RMA'ing my shitty DSL modem/router. The replacement is still shitty, but I can EQ again \o/. Got to be one of the oddest hardware failures I've ever seen.
