you don't have to install anything to play, just follow the instructions. if you want to create a server, that is a different story

It realy depends on what you want to do.

If you want to play read the play guide, If you want to run a server read the guide to running a 5.0 server.

I get to step 4 and then it loses me. I searched for eqgame.exe and I got it but

In the menu that pops up after you complete the drag, select Create Shortcuts Here

A new icon has now been created on your desktop.

Right click on the newly created icon and select "Properties" on the menu.

In the Properties window that pops up, find the Target field on the Shortcut tab.

At the end of the text in this field, add a space with the space bar and then type in the word patchme. You should see something like the following:
Kinda loses me. I what is this Target Field? I see none I think.

you can choose to DL and use EQW instead. A lot of people find that easier to use.

Figure ill add more detail, with EQW all you do is patch to live, replace the EQHost, then point EQW to your EQ.EXe (follow there directions) then play.
