Gay viruses
Apparently I have two viruses in my computer, both Trojans and in the files systemie.dll and ctrpan.dll.
Since these are system files, it wont let me quarentine them or delete them with Symantec. Anyone know what I can do?

Well, now the two files are in quarantine (it automatically put em there after reboot), but I couldn't rescan. Something is messed up with Norton now. It says it can't "access the scan engine".

I had this issue with norton systemworks a couple months ago, turn out I had a virus that was designed to disable Nortons, then start currupting your programs, even deleting and reinstalling didnt work. Had to do a reformat
Check out Microsofts online help there is a place to DL a scanner that will find it if this is what you have.

Get Spybot Search and Destroy, not so much a virus program...but it's a great program to get rid of nasty spy ware you pick up on the way.

Dude, it's a figure of speech. Calm down.
About Spybot: Thx, but I already use it =P
Well the virus has definetely done soemthing to Norton. I can't even look at the virus definitions. The name of the virus is the Keylogger.Trojan, but they must be part of a bigger virus, cuz keyloggers dont do anything like what it is doing, they just change your home page basically (which is happening, btw) but I think i have soemthing worse that DLd them.

Got me, I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Nortons tech support, then almost 4 with Microsoft tech support( realy realy didnt want to loose 80 pages worth of a final paper, over 50 movies and over 10 gig of porn )
I actualy ended up with a Programmer (the supervisors - supervisors- supervisor) he exact words were "Dude your F*cked, just reformat" during the last hour and a half he had remote access, he installed somthing from the Microsoft site, scanned with it and 4 Viri showed up.

Well I used Norton's outside scanning program thingy that u casn use to scan from their site. Unfortunately it only tells u that u have viruses and where and what they r, and it doesnt get rid of em.
I have:
C:\nnctl.exe is infected with Keylogger.Trojan
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctrlpan.dll is infected with Trojan.StartPage
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysie.dll is infected with Keylogger.Trojan
C:\WINDOWS\system32\systemie.dat is infected with Keylogger.Trojan
C:\WINDOWS\system32\systemie.dll is infected with Keylogger.Trojan
C:\WINDOWS\system32\systemie.exe is infected with Keylogger.Trojan
C:\Documents and Settings\graham\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Q5LIJETO\javautil[1].zip is infected with Trojan dropper
Got rid of the nnctl one and the DAT file one but the rest cant be deleted cuz they r system files, and the temporary internet one is fucking pissing me off cuz i dont even have a file called "graham" under documents and settings and search hasnt turned it up either, so i just deleted all files in TIF thru internet options.

Ya know... Hijackthis ( http://www.spychecker.com/download/d...ijackthis.html )
is really great for getting rid of pesky programs (like browser hijackers), and can even *help* to quarantine virii by getting them out of the startup.
