this may be a fix for the 1017 prob
okay, i've been trying to figure out this whole thing, just like everyone else. Check it, yo. It's all about ports baby. At least that's what my problem was.
When you run your world.exe and it says:
Worldserver listening on: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: xxxx
make sure you pay attention to the xxxx port number. make sure that number is consistant with your loginserver.ini where it says:
loginport=xxxx
and
serverport=xxxx
cause if it's listening on another port and you have it configured to call another port, you're not going to get any feed back from the server.
also, very important, make sure your eqhost.txt file in your everquest dir is also consistant with this number that it's been listening to.
This solved my problem with the dreaded 1017 error. hope it works for the rest of you.
If this is a little too scetchy on explaination, please let me know and i'll try to be a little more specific.
