I am new here, and so far from what I have seen this looks like a great idea! My friend and I have played EQ for about 2 years off and on in the past. We quit about 5-6 months ago because lack of time(and lack of patience with Luclin). From what I have read so far this may turn out to be a great soulution for us. I read the Faq on the main page and have read the readme file in the download, but I still have a few questions, if anyone would be so kind as to help me.
1) From what I sort of understand from the readme file (I am only semi-computer literate
), I can connect to the EQEmu.org server and play in a world with everyone else who is connected to it, or I can host on my computer(following the MiniLogin steps?)and I am the only one who can play in the world. Is this correct?
2) Is there a way that I can make a world where only myself and my friend can play? Maybe a password protected server or one of us can host a game on our computer? If so how? Our concern about playing with everyone else is that it seems very easy to alter stats, skills, spells, etc and we dont want to play in a world where everyone has their epic at lvl 1, or everyone is lvl 60, or characters can one hit kill big mobs. Not that there is anything wrong with trying that stuff out, we both intend to try to remake our characters the way they were when we left EQ, and I plan to try all that cool stuff out when I am in a world all by myself. But in a world with everyone doing all those things all the time it would only be fun for a short time.
