Default Keep getting booted to desktop when type in user name

I made a user name for the boards and i tried logging in EQ Emu with it and when i click login or connect it just goes straight to the desktop. I changed EQhost to what it says also and it goes back to its default and wont stay what it says to change to

[Registration Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}

{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}

That is what i put it in the EQhost folder and goes back to default everytime. I did not have a datarate.txt file so i made one and put in the everquest directory and put in 8.0 and tried changing the numbers to 5.0 etc and still does the same thing. Can anyone help me with this or solve it. Thanks for the help.

What patch is your client on right now? If it's past the one that implemented the new login UI, you're going to have to wait for the Devs to release a compatible version.

You have the patch that is incompatible with the login servers. In fact the format of eqhost.txt changed os its crashing because it can't find the info its looking for. You have to wait til its fixed, probably a few days but maybe longer isnce a new patch came out today.

Make sure you don't have any spaces after [LoginServer], which happens if you're copying it from the forums.

[LoginServer](space)(return)
Host=blah

crashes

[LoginServer](return)
Host=blah

works

try setting the file as read only... if that still doesnt work copy over the original eqhost.txt open the command prompt get to the directory with your eqemu and type "edit eqhost.txt" without the quotes and change it that way. I don't know if you get the proper effect by just copy/pasting it in there as if you manually typed it in since I just typed it in.

Ok i typed in this in my EQ Host directory

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995

(No spaces and thats all that is in my directory)

I am also using forum name and password to log in.
When i load up EQEmu it says incorrect password and name.

Does it matter if i didnt have a datarate file and i made one and just put 8.0 in it or not?

I see it says beta do i need a diff program than what it says or what?

Ok i read another way to do it but it says this...

Create a Login Server account.

Visit http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/pro...de=editprofile and take note of your email address and Login Server Activation Key.

Double click on the icon created above on your desktop
NOTE: If you receive the message "Please run EverQuest.exe", you forgot to add patchme to your shortcut - which is part of this tutorial!

Once you have started the client, click Account, then New.
NOTE: If you see the NEW login screen you cannot currently make a new account. Even if you had an account we have not updated the servers so you would not be able to connect. If you had a webpage come up when you clicked Account, I am talking to you. ENDNOTE
The only information we need on the first page is your email address, the other information is discarded. The EQ client still requires that you fill in the address fields and DOB, but this info is not used so feel free to put whatever you want there. On the third page fill in all fields and use your Login Server Activation Key as your key. Note that three login server accounts can be created per activation key. Take note of your account name and password that you have just created, this will let you play on servers

that was one of the last steps but when i open up the EQemu icon i made and click on account it brings up the EQ website and wont work.. what am i supposed to do...

ya im probably a moron but *shrugs* i cant figure it out ...

You wait until they upgrade, they are completely incompatible with the new client.
