need help ive tried everything

on june 21, 2004 i played on eqemu without a problem, when i came back in the morning i launched it and i recieved a 1017 error, so i patched, well that broke it. But i heard that if u replace some files u cna get it to work again, so i dug a copy of the file from my recycle bin and replaced it, but i still keep getting the 1017 error I even did a complete file check for Live and then replaced it but it still gave me that error, i dont understand this whatsoever. Is it possible that maybe some of my files got corrupted or something? I dont know if this matters but i used the EQA patcher to launch, but that shouldnt make any difference right?, i mean its only spell files and UI? PLease I have been racking my brains about this for several days and just cant figure it out, please please please help
