Completely newbie here

I played EQ up till Luclin and gave up because Sony's customer service sucked and they wanted you to shell out tons of money all the damn time for the game. Now that I found these free servers and I figured I'd give it a shot. I had a few questions though first. First, since I only own up to luclin, will I be able to properly connect? Or do i need to go ahead and get eq platinum? Secondly, is it completely legal? I for one don't want sony suing my ass over this. Anyways thanks in advance and hopefully I'll be playing soon

First, yes you can play, simply read and follow the playguides.

Second, the issue of legality is grey at the moment. If it is found to be illegal, then it will be the creators of the project that are targeted, not the users.

It would be too much work for Sony to find out what your doing. This does not connect to any of their servers so unless you get online telling people about this project they would have to hack into the eqemulator site, server or whatever and get IP numbers of the people track them down and do alot of other stuff.

And about the versions you dont need to have all of hte expansions. Simply go into your patcher and go to advanced options -> and select all of the Expansions.

As far as being Legal, dont do anything stupid like giveing out files or anything because its possibly illegal, I personaly dont think it is because everquest gives out these files for free if you buy the origial Everquest. (except for the expansions that you have to buy). But you are not getting those files from us your useing their patcher in a legal way to get those files. So i dont think its illegal, and i also dont think sony cares enough about less than 600 people who play on eqemulator specialy when half of them are paying for a legit everquest account and some of them more than one.

SoE is to lazy to even find a Emulator. and, yes you can play with up to luclin. Read Search Guide.
So believe Monalin, or me.
But SoE = suxxors if you wanna ask anyone on Emu.
