#itemsearch? newbie question re Hogiebane server...

I played EQ from from the very beginning until a couple months ago when I finally decided I didn't enjoy playing much any more and quit. Now I stumbled upon this site and was intrigued of the possibility of running my own so I set up MySQL and EQEmu. Can't wait for the release of 0.3.4 (my version of EQ was so old I had to patch) so while unable to play locally for now I tried to play on the Hogiebane server. Made a few characters but usually got disconnected right away but finally managed to stay online for a few minutes. Raised my lvl to 60 just fine, found and cast SOW on myself (though it had the wrong particle effect, didn't give an item and didn't seem to have any effect) but couldn't for the life of me make any items. No matter what I was searching for with #itemsearch I always got 0 items found. So what's with #itemsearch on Hogiebane, do you have to use a special syntax, or are there short item names (like the short zone names) you have to search for? I just typed

#itemsearch shortsword of ykesha (or swiftwind or whatever)
