Login issues + more
Okay, I'd like to start off by saying that yes, I have read the forums here and tried various things. I've perused the FAQ, and found nothing that helped.
I would also like to add though, that I am not currently at my normal residence, where everything worked fine and has for weeks, but down south at my old home for the weekend. I would also like to add that I was able to log in completey at one point tonight and play, but there were issues with lag and my bard's songs were being even more noncompliant than usual, getting halfway through a cast bar before missing a note, or sometimes working randomly or locking up completely. I logged out to try to fix this as I figured it was a network issue and since haven't been able to get back in and developed further problems.
Problems:
Trying to log in at the login screen is either randomly timing out, connecting to the server screen and coming up with nothing, or yelling at me for an incorrect password. Yes, all 3 are happening randomly.
Sometimes however, it manages to get through and show a server selection, which confuses me, so I select P1999 and log in, seemingly fine. But then I get to the character select screen and all of my characters are gone.
Steps I've taken:
Fowarded port 5998.
Full power/down reboot of router, modem, and PC, multiple times.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind...it's still freaking out.
Another problem I forgot to mention is that when I am somehow capable of getting into game, which I am now...zoning takes like 2-4x as long as usual as well.

Sounds like you may have been having Local ISP problems with your connection to the internet. Were normal websites working ok 100%? Also, if you have issues connecting to 1 server in particular, it never hurts to try connecting to another server to make sure the issues aren't related to just that 1 server. But, if you had login issues as well, then I assume your ISP was having some major routing, dns, or packet loss issues.

Honestly that wouldn't surprise me...if I had a fiver for every time I've called and yelled at my ISP down here I'd be able to afford a nice new computer.
Forcing a specific DNS server seemed to help a bit and allow me to connect more often, but I'm crashing out of EQ on zoning a lot...like the connection dropped during the zone and it can't find the next one over.
Normal websites were working normally, but sometimes a bit slow. I really hope it's just not my ISP failing because they do that way too much...makes me glad I don't live here anymore but I had to come back down for the weekend to take care of some things for my family. If that's the issue, which it very likely may be, I guess I'll just have to deal with it til I can get back home, was hoping it'd be something more workable though.

Login server issues
I am having issues reaching the login server.
I can not see port 5998 open anyway, but I can ping the server.

Are you running Windows 7? If so, have you forwarded the port in Windows Firewall, or tried to disable it? If your running Windows 7 and have tried both and still have issues, try installing Zone Alarm free edition, thats the only thing that worked for me on Windows 7.

I'm having the same issues as well. Read the FAQ and tried all that to no avail, came on the forums and noticed other people having the issue.
Just started happening out of the blue yesterday evening, made no changes to anything that would have lead to it happening so with that in mind and what I'm reading here it's either an ISP issue or a loginserver issue.
I'm using Grande Communications, not sure what everyone else is using.

According to the admins on the P1999 board there's someone DDoSing. Probably the cause of all these issues after looking at it.
