Default Live EQ on other languages ?

Hello guys. I am curious if SOE has ever considered selling rights for hosting EQ in other minor languages, say like hungarian, danish or turkish etc to another company ? I searched the net but could not find any info regarding my question. Any inquiries on the topic is appriciated.

There's a few languages it was translated into. They had to change a few things for british english (Ubisoft wouldn't let them have certain things) and of course there was german and french parts of Ubisoft. There's legacy elements in the client that define this (*spells_US*, *spells_EN*, etc) as well as loginserver settings to force the specified type. I don't know if that is even used in Titanium+ clients anymore, though. Pretty sure both the public and private force it to use ***_us files, though.

You can also override the loginserver settings by passing the args /locale:en next to patchme. This will force it to use the other strings file, spells_en, eqstr_en, and dbstr_en. I believe the locales are hardcoded, and there's only like 5 of them (including ru, I could be wrong though I haven't looked at that part of eqgame forever.) and if you are really interested I could look it up for you.

You can also change the strings of some zone longnames, as well. Those are in dbstr_xx.txt I believe. The shortnames appear to be hardcoded but you used to be able to spoof them. Besides, the /who request for out of zones on titanium and /who in general on SoF/SoD shows the longname which goes through to the server. The server just sends a purple message back, you could edit that if you so choose and change zone longnames that way. The only hardcoded thing really is the ID and zone file name.
