Default Light levels

Hello again everyone

So unsure if this is a DB setting or something client side, but figured I'd ask. When EQ first went live and for years after night time was really dark. I remember hunting wisps for their lightstones cause they were actually needed. Ultravision and infravision had a purpose and were noticable.

Is there a way to get that feel back with the new clients?
I notice no light level column in the zones table. Anyone have any ideas or is that feel something that was removed when they added the new sky textures and changed the game engine.

That never really was an option, it was just part of the older engine. If you run Titanium, stuff is all still dark like you remember. If you run the SoD and newer clients, the lighting is much better (IMO) and you can actually see. Yeah, that does kinda get rid of the requirement for humans to have lightstones and such, but it also makes the game much better looking and more playable over-all.

So, you can't really adjust the lighting. The only way to change that is to change the client you are on.

One thing I've noticed on SoD and UF is that the gamma is set pretty high by default. Lowering it in the client options would make things darker, but I don't know if that's the same thing you're looking for.

I do remember playing a barbarian as my first toon when EQ first came out, and it was really hard to see. I had around 5 sets of shiverback gloves in my bank for when I died and had to run back somewhere naked.
