Default Guidance on patching and logging in to local server?

I have a Win 7 machine that I want to get eqemu running on. I follow Akkadius's instructions and used his installer and was able to get a sever up and running --- possibly without error --- that is, no red text walls.

I have a vanilla, unpatched copy of EQ Titanium that I am trying to use to login using my local ip on port 5998 in the eqhosts file. However, EQ keeps trying to patch and I don't know where to alter that behavior. Ultimately, it times out.

Should I use the loopback IP? Is there something else wonky?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Make sure that your ini file is saving your change correctly. There can be problems if you are in a window's user directory and not running out of root.

Also, ensure that you have added the 'patchme' argument after 'eqgame.exe' in the shortcut.
