What do i do after download?

Sorry, but i didnt see thie anwsered in Forums or FAQs , so now that i have the latest version downloaded, where do i unzip it to and what to i click to run it? thanks

im having trouble on the Single (be your own server) mode and the lan (server on your lan). Its all messy, the updates dont cover what the forums say they do. The forums are either WAY out of date on instructions and the readme is complete garbage. Its just random data that yall wanted to spit out to keep noobs like me out of playing free eq. BTW i dont see why you need a new server cuz i only see like 50 users max in any server or all combined....

Got a problem with your server? Try that handy dandy SEARCH button on top or head on over to the IRC and ask for some help.

To understand the README, you have to READ IT! Read it first, then follow, then double check, then print it out and read it a bit slower, because it is not difficult to understand.

It's noobs like yourself that keep you from playing an EQ Emulation. Try out the servers EQEmu.net hosts to make sure you like them before you try and create your own.

Huh, what are you talking about? The loginserver was like a 486! O yea, you try and host 50 people on your POS computer.

Ignore my misplaced anger and try and be more specific with the troubles you are having, we can't read your mind.

Ok im figuring a few things out, is there a link that goes step by step on what to do? I pu t in my username/password, but im getting a could not locate all items and could not connect to spawnentry in database eq311 at host 127.0.0.1 i also have this mysql, but i dont know where to unzip, please help me.

Im pretty sure i will be ok if i can just get past this 1001 error that i cannot connect to everquest server. Please, just someone help me!

I tried today and still getting 1001 error, am i not being specific? I can clarify any questions, please help me, ive always wanted to dual wield a swiftblade of zek and Horn of Hsagra, unless theres a more uber combo tell me if there is

Says to run world.exe and 2 other programs, where do i get those programs?

PS, ethernalquest is working just fine, i just cant get on any other servers.

Here, we're talking about (and supporting) EQemu, not Ethernal Quest. Two projects. Two different way to do things. Two different group of people.

Here we go, this is a multi-step, extremely difficult thing do! Lets get started. (I hope you can hear the sarcarsm)

Put your right hand in, take your right hand out, put your left hand in and ya shake it all about. You do the hooky pooky and ya turn yourself around, thats what its all about!

They call that document the Readme.

And to highlight the best part, which every newb seems to miss. Cause most only want to play for free.

If you only want to connect to someone's server that is hosted on EQEmu.net's servers follow these steps if not skip this part.

1. Go to http://forums.eqemu.net and register an account (If you don't already have one). This account will be your "Loginserver account" as well as forum name.
2. Go to EverQuest Directory (C:\Program Files\EverQuest\) we will use this one as an example
3. Open "eqhost.txt" (located in everquest directory i.e C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqhost.txt
4. Delete any existing text inside the text file.
5. Copy and paste the following or download http://www.eqemu.net/eqhost.txt and save to EverQuest directory.

[Registration Servers]

}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemu.net:5999"
"eqlogin2.eqemu.net:5999"
}

5. Load up EverQuest using EQW or the "patchme" method.
eqw: http://www.eqwindows.com
patchme: Load up EverQuest (eqgame.exe) with the command line "patchme"
(without quotes i.e "C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme")
6. Enter your Loginserver account information (username/password you made in step 1)
7. highlight a server (Forever-Hacking is a popular server and run by one of the devs) and connect to it.
8. HAVE FUN!!!!!
