Solution for those that patched recently
If you have patched recently and are frustrated by not being able to get in, heres the start of a solution.
Run over to
http://windump.polito.it/
download this program (or use the linux equivalent tcpdump). Install it, and collect logs for us of creating a character, logging in, and zoning and running around like a fool with a level one grabbing data to help us fix eqemu to work with the latest round of clients!
Please send all logs to dev@eqemu.com
All are welcome to participate, the more data we have, the faster we will be able to churn out a fully eqLive compatible version of eqemu in the near future.
Thanks!
(Also, try to split logs up as possible. Character creation/logging in. Combat. Merchant Interaction. etc. Name the log files so we can quickly identify them when you submit them. Thanks again!)

So do you want both logs from people who CAN do everything fine and CAN'T do anything? I can get in just fine and if you need some data of how it's supposed to look...then i'd be glad to help.

I think he means.
The data collection is for collecting data from EQLive servers, not EQEmu. They already know what is contained in those packets. They need information from the live servers for spawns, items, etc. I think you may have just misunderstood a bit.

Ah, was kinda wondering why you would want to see your own packets....thanks for clearing that up. I don't play on EQ Live so...I can't help you *smiles*

Ah Thanks!
Thanks Trump, I was wondering what switchs were needed to capture with windump. In a few days I'll be able to jump back into EQ and start getting stuff. Are there any specific areas, items, etc that you need? Or just something of everything?

Character creation, entering zones are the 1st bit we need.. We have some info, but its incomplete I believe... Then just a bit of anything you can come up with..

About the command to run the program. I am willing to go around and grab the code for you, but please explain to me what is meant by IP address in the execution. is it my IP, my cable modem IP, or eq server's ip?

No, just use your computers ip address. Your router still has to use that to communicate with your computer...
