Log-in issues . . .
Using:
Everquest (Kunark, Velious, SoL) (Last patched 2.22.02)
EQEmu 2.3
EQW 2.21
MySQL 3.23.48
I'm having trouble connecting to my local server. I tried the more simple approach of just starting with Gotfrags, but the server is down :-(
This is what I'm doing . . .
(db.ini, loginserver.ini, and boot5zones.win9x.bat - all point to 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1')
1.) Patch Everquest.
2.) Replace eqhost.txt with:
[Registration Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"localhost:15900"
"localhost:15901"
"localhost:15902"
"localhost:15903"
}
3.) Run Minilogin (No errors)
4.) Run World.exe (No errors)
5.) Run Boot5Zones (No errors)
6.) Run EQW (No errors)
7.) At the Login server, "Cannot Connect" . . .
I've troubleshooted for a few hours. Got a few crashes, patched a few hundred times, and am still at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

pw
From the "Obvious" department.. not doubting your intelligence, but figured i'd say it...
Is your login/PW equser or whatever the default is?
Sorry i'm not more help, but I remember seeing tht you needed to use the default to have minilogin work.
I may be dumb though. =P

ok in eqhost.exe where it says:
[Registration Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"localhost:15900"
"localhost:15901"
"localhost:15902"
"localhost:15903"
}
instead of localhost, put 127.0.0.1
delete 3 of those login server lines
now everything should now say:
127.0.0.1:5999
instead of localhost:15900 etc.
this will work if it's just for yourself, should work, this is what mine says:
[Registration Servers]
{
"127.0.0.1:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"127.0.0.1:5999"
}
try cutting and pasting that in there

oh and another thing, the patches from 2/13/02 on do not work with v. 0.2.3 you have to wait for 0.2.4 to come out

The 'equser' Login/Pass sounds vaguely familiar, I can't place it though. Was that for the 'loginserver.ini'? Or EQ itself? (I tried both, neither worked)
Also, a few other sidenotes . . .
I'm getting a lot of Incorrect Version messages. They are all related to 'eqhost.txt', it seems. I've been tinkering with that file quite a bit, since that's looking like the source of the problem. It's almost like if the file isn't a certain size, or if the line number/content doesn't match, it will say incorrect version. The second I change it back to default, it works fine. I still can't connect, but I don't get the Incorrect version thing. Here are a few setups I've been working with, with no avail:
-----------------------
[Registration Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
}
----------------------------
[Registration Servers]
{
"127.0.0.1:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"127.0.0.1:5999"
}
---------------------------
[Registration Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
"localhost:5999"
"localhost:5999"
"localhost:5999"
}
-------------------------
. . . . and stuff of the sort. The 'eqhost.txt' seems to be very picky. The only one that doesn't give me a version error is this:
---------------------------
[Registration Servers]
{
"localhost:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"localhost:15900"
"localhost:15901"
"localhost:15902"
"localhost:15903"
}
-----------------------------------
But the log-in ports are wrong. It's like EQ is looking for that 5-digit port number, and won't take a 4-digit. Anyway, that's just a theory . . . oh, well, back to troubleshooting . . . Perhaps I'm just making things more complicated than they really are . . .

do what i told you, instead of localhost put 127.0.0.1
for some reason it doesn't like localhost, and also, you do have the wrong version, you have to wait until 0.2.4 or just put in 0.2.2 to hold you over ( at least i think 0.2.2 will work with the new patch)
but otherwise, 0.2.3 does not work with the patches from 2/13/02 and on for now
screw around with it, that's usually how i get it to work

Okie dokie . . .
I've followed all the above suggestions, and still get the 'incorrect version' error. The MiniLogin is showing me connecting to it, but I instantly get kicked off again because of the errors.
I tried running EQEmu 2.1 just to see what would happen, and got the same error, again.
A couple of questions . . .
1.) Could the patch from the 13th be causing this? I haven't read anything in the forums like this that was related to the patch.
2.) If I do a new installation of EQ, Kunark, Velious, and SoL, could I run the emulator without patching EQ? (to try avoid the problem created by the 13th. I was unaware I needed to back up those files).
I appreciate all you guys' help, really. I know tech support is irritating. I do it myself, that's my job. I just wanted to say thanks again, and in advance for future replies.

1) yes, i read it somewhere
2) if you really want to
number 2 is a personal option, it will work, but you might as well wait for 0.2.4 to come out, but if you need it that bad... by all means, reinstall it, or.. send me a pm and i'll give you my aol s/n and send you the files
Edit: or send me your s/n, either way it'll work

Small note: The default user account needed for MiniLogin is eqemu / eqemu, not equser / equser.
