when i heard about EQEMu and the servers it runs i though there would be "Legit Servers", i mean ones that really work.

but alas there are none, this really sucks.
why bother playing if u can just type in #summonitem where is the fun in that? where is the playability ?

answer: there is none.

most zones dont work, no npc work. no quest no way to earn shit.
now you developers may nnnot be getting paid but you want donations and expect some for this sorry crap? no i think not.

get a server up and running, one that has all the quests working , and one u can zone on with out spawning 80,000miles in the air.

Basically u want money , earn it, get a fully functional server up.
and-or a way for ppl to setup a fully functional server of their own.

for that i would pay and feel alright about doing so.

IF anyone else feels this way let me know, u devs wanna comment i would like to hear what plans u got.

but at this point im feeling once again like paying sony is the only real way toplay this game.

Uhm, have you tried guildwars server? It's pretty functional...

It's really all up to the server-op how each server will turn out.

I think the dev guys are doing a fantastic job of creating the engine.

I also think there's plenty of guys putting hours and hours into creating databases that can be downloaded which do exactly what you are asking for.

It takes time for all this to occur, and noone is holding a gun against your head asking you to donate. It's 100% optional, however it costs money to run websites and login/database servers etc.

FYI, if you want functional databases, take a look at Drawdes for quests, Telmet's for sheer size, or Lurker's also for size.

Then again, why not try to contribute yourself before calling this awesome group of people's work for the last year or so, worthless.

NONE of the dev team if getting paid to do this, its all volunteer, the money to donate is going to Hogie which is running the login server, and that ain't free, not even close. There are probably over a hundred PAID workers working on the Sony servers, there are only a few working on this and they are NOT getting paid. If you can't appreciate all the work they have done, then go back to EQLive where you belong. I quit EQLive 2 days ago, emu is much funner than that ever will be, you can do so much more.

All zones, NPCs also work near 100%(they fight,they cast, they fury etc) Quests are player made, want some quests? go make them.

One of the things holding back EQEMu are idiots like you, people who don't even try to help the project (like collecting spawn data, or MAKING QUESTS, as quests are made by players) EQEMu is just a SERVER emu, the dev team is too small to get everything done besides the basics (also they don't get paid)

You are right, we shouldn't charge for our software, and we dont. But imagine this. What if I couldnt afford to host the site/loginservers anymore. Imagine the problems you would have then. I am not saying to donate every month, I just asked to help pay for expenses. I really did loose $2500 last year to eqemu expenses. All I am asking for is a little help.

If you notice, we are half way to our goal. The server was built, and is running now as eqlogin1.eqemu.net. It has been very very stable.

It looks like I will be moving it to Michigan so we can start the transition over to my hosting company next month. Believe me, this is hard work keeping this going. I dont even have time to play a character on Foreverhacking or Guildwars because of chasing problems down (or upgrading systems, or making money).

Now, if you would like a turnkey solution (ie, I install it for you and everything), I'd be glad to do it for $60/hr with a 2 hour min. fee. But like you said, it isn't even up to classic eq yet (which is where we are aiming for first).

If you dont like this, please go to EthernalQuest and use their software.

and once again for those who seem only to be able to read only a sentance or 2 (or only able to retain that much) i never made claim to being a dev , my skills end at light scripting.

Also you said that the devs "expect" money. Thats crazy, they do not expect anything. I bet they was surprised at just how many even donated, including me.

I believe players have been able to set up there own server for a VERY long time. It depends on the serverOP of how they run the server. If you don't like how they run, then you should create one. Its not that hard. I agree with killspree, Guildwars is damn near close to being fully functional, sure there are small bugs, but they can be worked out.

And you want me to shut the "fuk" up, why? Because you couldn't find a come back? Didn't know how to respond? I say this, if you don't like the emulator, just leave, it won't hurt this project much if a few leave. For every person that leaves, more join. And by seeing the date on your post, I believe guildwars was up and running at that time. Sees how well you search around before posting.

rol this is pretty funny...ok if you have to pay to play then what the hell would the point of the emulater be? to pay someone besides soe for the same game? Also wouldnt verant just go to pay and see where the moneys being sent to bust em? Mainly, it's these guys' job to get the SOFTWARE up and running. Quests, NPCs, and all of the other trappings that come with them are DATABASE-DEPENDENT! It's the average Joe like me that works his ass off collecting data on quests and such, while little shitheads like :!: Castiron :!: whine about it. If it wasn't for Telmet, Drawde, Lurker, and everyone like them, there wouldn't be a database in the first place. Also, there are too many Devs to count that we owe more than just a little thanks and a "How ya doin'?". Everyone involved in the EQemu project takes time off from their jobs and their life to make it so all the little fuckers out there don't have to pay Sony. I play EQLive, and I'm proud of it. But I am even more proud to play even an insignificant role in the improvement of this program. It's not just about the game. It's about the desire to improve and build upon what EQ itself is all about. So I think it is you, Castiron, who should fully read peoples' posts. AND IT IS YOU WHO SHOULD "SHUT THE FUCK UP"...

i dont believe im the one that build a web site, advertized it and an emulator , claimed it was all so great and then put up a pile of mostly non-functional crap.

and then wanted donations for it , you think its all that get your welfare checks out and dontate to it, as for me you want donations ya youll get em , after i figure its worth donating to as it is now it isnt even worth loggin on.

you dont like what i got to say about it tough shit, if you dont have anything do do but post abunch of smak in a thread do it elsewhere bitches.
