Default Is this feasible?

Hi,
Would it be possible for those of use that can't access the EQ Patcher's patch.dat file to be able to gain access to the files by providing the account number on the Everquest CD case?

I would like to be able to use EQemu but alas I cannot even after trying all the idea's suggested on this forum(Even the dial up modem one) get it to work

I get the connection reset error every time. :(

Cheers,
Shape

I doubt you can get the files that way - you need eqgame.exe which has nothing to do with your CD Key, that's just used when activating your account.

What I meant to imply was if we gave one of the server owners out account key would they give us access to the files so we could download them.

With the account key they could verify that the person is in fact in possession of a Everquest CD, thus it Wouldn't(Shoultn't?) be considered warez.

Sense make?

Um... Nothing In EQ has to do with your account key except the activation process. everquest.exe checks dates and size of files to compare them to the server's files, and will download only some if they aren't there. The program has no access what-so-ever to CD keys... Those are all stored on the registration server, not the files server. What I'd suggest if you won't cough up the money to buy EQ is to borrow it, install it, and give it back to the guy you got it from. You don't need the CDs to play, and you don't need them to run the patcher. Once you've got it installed, run the patcher with all features enabled. Once it's done, run the EQEmu patcher and go through the readme at http://www.eqemu.net to be able to play.

It would still be considered warez, I'm sure. EQEmu isn't affiliated with Sony or the EQLive team in any way, so there's really no way to verify if the CD Key was accurate even if a ServerOP did that for you.
