Default All in the details

Ok, so I login to Belkin's website looking for a UPS for work purposes and notice that their selling refurbished Bluetooth USB adapters.

I had been thinking about getting one to use with my cellphone, basically to download my newborns' pic to my cellphone so I can show her off . The cell phone can hold about 100 images, not great resolution but very convenient.

I check into it ,and low-and-behold, and find the I can get a $99 Bluetooth thingamajig for like $32.50. I'm thinking sweet, so I go ahead and order one online.

It comes just a couple of days later and I'm a kid with a new toy.
Installed the software that came with it and it ALMOST works right off the bat. But the image downloader just doesn't see the phone.

A couple of hours later, I hop online to make sure I got the latest version of the hardware drivers. Bah! the software they sent is 5 microversions out.

So I download and intall the latest hardware drivers and re-install the image downloader and boom! works like a champ.

The whole point?

Well, first you know the Bluetooth adapter was returned to Belkin because someone couldn't get it to work. I suspect they couldn't get it to work because of the hardware drivers.

So what does Belkin do? They ship it to me with the same out-of-date hardware drivers that didn't work in the first place.

In fact the included documentation was excellent, except for the part missing that said 'check for the latest driver version at:'.

Oh well, good deal for me
