Running more zones or world.exe from a client computer
I seen a post a while back on setting up more or all of your zones on one computer and running the game from the server computer. but for the life of me i cant find the info.
I have server computer running, trying to use another client computer on a network to host some more zones.
I run 12 zones on server comp, recently i've been getting like 10 people on the server at a time, well this dont cut it when more than two people zone at the same time, ect. I dont want to over do it with too many more zones running on one comp.
now to my question. how would i go about running the game.exe, and or the boot20zones on the client computer?
I've just been messing with this sort of thing myself.
I found that running world.exe on any pc that is running the client is a bad idea. You will get high pings and monsters will lag.
I am running minilogin and world on an old pentium 200 with good solo play results. Running the 5 zones on the client computer seems fine.
The only thing you have to worry about is getting mysql to let other compters access the database. 1045 error fix in a_Guest03 sig fixes this. I found for windows you can use computer names instead of ip numbers when granting privileges.
eg.
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'bla'@computername IDENTIFIED BY 'bla'
Go to boot5zone.bat and edit following:
start zone . (Your IP) 7901 (Hes IP/The computer you have world.exe runing)
you have to have the same files. then start it
