Unable to play EQ anymore

Logged in the game today like I normally do and did some factioning in Droga. Then I decided to load my boxed bard too for some haste song. I started getting the "you need to re-run patch program"-message for the first time ever. So I shut down the eq and tried again, same thing.

Then I remembered I had downloaded WinEQ 2.15 on my computer. Started the program and it told me to download direct x, so I did. Installed direct X and tried to log in with the WinEQ. Oops, now I cant log in any account. When I try to connect to the server it just boots me back to the log in screen.

So I decided to ditch the WinEQ and run everquest.exe two times like I normally do to box. But oh damn, I cant log in any accounts this way anymore.

So which program screwed me over? DirectX or WinEQ?

figured it out. the problem was just with the server I tried to connect to
