Default Starting a new server, maybe

So I have a dedicated linux machine on an OC3 line, very fast... Very nice... And I might be putting eqemu on it as soon as the newest build comes out, BUT I don't know what type of server to put up..

A server that is like the current live servers on the real EQ? Just a "summon all your items and sit around bragging about your stats that you worked so hard typing to get", or ... ?

how about a Best of the Best server! it would be a pvp duel server where you pick the best pvp gear and you head to the arena. or may be if you set up a real cool system like you start at lvl 1 and you can only summon leather and stuff and once you win a round you get lvl 10 and you can summon more and eventually you duel up to lvl 60's and you can summon anything. and you would be matched up according to lvl adns stuff

or may be a interactive quest server where you could recruit a team of 8 or so people to run GM quests often and each character would be locked in to a level, and all gear would come through the gm quests, and may be you could set it up where they choose a class and then a skill like blacksmithing and then you give them 150 skill in it. they would start at like lvl 25 and instead of being a 24/7 type thing you would have schedualed quest days and times like every saturday sunday tuesday and friday at 5pm PST and you would plan small events and at the end of the quest you would grant each person gear, and xp. so you would start out with like bronze and a fine steal weapon, and for each quest you might get a magic item or 100 platinum and a lvl. This would make it more like an rpg! and all the days that arent quest days you could hunt for money and skill up trade skills, but not really gain levels.

and even more to follow up, if you go with idea #2 you could have a website with all the current event participaters and you could have pictures of events and you could have like a running story!

and a standard quest day would go like, *broadcast*you hear the stamp of feet and clashing of steal eminating from Blackburrow, and then everyone #zones into QH to meet a gm as a beggar telling of 'the horrors of blackburrow and some evil plot by a head gnoll' and you go in with a party of quester's and the beggar would lead the way and you would fight through a bunch of lvl appropriate gnolls and he would find little rewards along the way like a cache of gnoll weapons and everyone would get a low end weapon, and may be fight your way through the gnolls 'armory' and everyone gets pieces of leather armor (to sell or keep) and then the final battle between the evil boss gnoll (a gm) and the questers, and at the end of the fight (the gnoll dies) they loot 25pp for everyone off the gnoll and everyone gets a magic item, like casters would get +2 int earrings and fighters might get magic weapons and stuff.

The new Quest system is in the works that allows scripting similar to mirc or php. It will allow variables, if statements, loops, etc from the scripts, but it is still in testing.

Hopefully it will be out in version 0.4.3 (as only Guildwars is running with the code, which is not checked into the CVS server as far as I know).
