Default Clean Install Personal Server

Ok, I'm new to Eqemu, I've read thru the forum, so I won't be asking how do I fix the various errors.

I'm trying to set up a personal server to play on. I've managed to get to the server screen and get the usual 1017 error. Since i'm new to Eqemu and have never had Eqemu working my question is...Is it possible as of today to have a working Eqemu personal server with a clean install. Since i've never had it working I don't know if it is because of the various Sony patches or because of something I've done.

TIA

You need to have your client fully patched to play on any 0.5 server

It is fully patched as of 11/11/03. I've never had Eqemu working so I don't know if at this time EqEmu can work with a clean install of Everquest and Eqemu.

Ok matt,

1. Patch To EQLive - Done
2. Point EQ to EQEMu - Done - Pointing to Personal Server
3. Change your Data Rate - No such file on my system
4. Make shortcut to run EQEMu - Done
5. Create a forum account. - Did that within my database.
6. Play EQEMu! - Breaks at server login screen.

Now I can only assume an Everquest patch is currently breaking EqEmu. I can only assume that, since i've never had EqEmu running before. I'll keep patching Everquest and re-compiling EqEmu until I get a match that works, but uh, thanks for the help all the same.

the current live version dose NOT break the emu, there is somthing else wrong. and thats probably that EQEMU is still at the Beta stage and requires some programming knowlage to get it up and running at this point, now I can only assume thats where your lacking like a lot of us are. Best bet wait a bit for 5.0 to get finished and stop changing several times a day as they fix stuff and the Dev team puts out precompiled binaries.

One note:

If you are using Minilogin, you have to add in a user called eqemu in your database. Also, any output from world and zone you can post would help us all guess what's wrong.

Does it have to be the first entry? The eqemu user?

Think it may have been the eqemu login account. Managed to get to character creation with 5.0 release and putting in the eqemu account. Thanks for the help.
