Default Hello :)

Hey, I was just browsing through RPG sites a couple days back and came across this. I couldnt afford to pay per play EQ so when I found this I was pretty happy , Glad the poor people aint forgotten! Im looking for a good server to play and if someone would give me a few tips on starting out that'd be great too. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the community, here's your initiation:

Read the how to play guide if you haven't done so already.

If you want to play a legit server (that means something like EQLive), I would suggest either Dynasty or Scorpious2k. But keep a sharp eye on Guildwars, it is currently down but is widely agreed to be the best server out there.

Also there are Non-legit servers (servers that everyone has GM powers) and Semi-Legit, where people have only selected GM powers.

And only servers that run with version 5.3DR2 will work.

I've only been here for a couple of days so thats the best advice I can give ya.

Ive been reading through some posts and you all seem like very nice people. Just finishing patching and getting all excited . Dynasty server sounds promising. Thanks!

OMG We are doing somthing wrong, were all arses realy!!! well only to people that dont read for themselfs

the best advice to a newcomer is patch to live, change your eqhost, make shortcut or use EQW (guide tells how to do all of this) Then back up your WHOLE Eq directory. never ever ever patch the working version untill told to do so.

what this will insure is, When we have 2 diferent versions running you will be able to play on both. For instance I have 1 always current with live, 1 for 4.4 (old version), 1 for 5.3Dr1. So i can play on 3 diferent versions.

And rember Search is your friend. 99% of any issues / questions you will have are already answered many times in the forums.

I don't know...Winter's Roar is getting me quite anxious. But yeah, one of those two for pure legit. Then Shawn319 if you don't mind hardcore people for non-legit.

the issue I have with WR is its actualy HARDER then live to level, at least for the first 25-30 levels.

add to the fact its 100% customized (which is great, just hard on the HD) and requires an EQ folder itself due to custom spells, zones, ect that arent compadable with other servers.
