Hi,
A month ago, a discussion (half of it was in french) started about how to translate eqemu to french. It lasted, like 2 days, the guys converted the spell file, and said they were starting to work on the DB with everybody telling them they wouldnt finish it. We never heard of them anymore since
Basically, you need to :
- translate the spell files
- translate everything in the db, "a freeport guard" needs to become "un garde de freeport", or whatever it will be in chinese
- translate eqemu sources wherever there's some strings sent to the client.
- add the needed code to the source to make the server accept connections from a client set up in another language than US

I don't want to seem rude with you, that's far of my idea, but the simple fact that you ask HOW to do it almost significates that you don't have the skills to do it. that's not a personnal attack obviously, more a warning to tell you that if you jump into this, you ll lose a lots of time for prolly not much.

Muuss.

Thanks for your directly speaking.

Actually, hongkong right now have a chinese verions which all the spell and speaking at the client it's already translated. So now I just wanna try to test with the eqemu can also support it now. But it just support to exp. pack of LOY , so I just wonder which version is sutiable for it. I think 0.4.4 is much better.

Now I will try to recomplite the source code to see it can support on it or not. That's why I am asking for anythings that I need to concern or prepare before recomplite.

well, trumpcard or another of the devs would answer you better than i do, but you don't only need to recompile to make it work with a non us version.

when the client connects to the server, languages are checked and the server will allow the connection only if it detects a client set up in US. To make it work with your version, you ll have to modify the source code and prolly need some datas that aren't yet available (opcodes).

i hope i m right and clear enough

Thanks a lot, I will try to test for a little period first. At the before I think about the modification of source code, but it needs much more time on it, so I just ask for any success case.
