Go to a command prompt, cd to where your zone.exe is and type:

Quote:
zone . 127.0.0.1 7995 localhost
(or whatever your IPs and port number are)

I.e. omit the 'start' command. This should allow you to see the error that caused it to close.

So you did Start/Run cmd

cd <wherever>

zone <params>

and your command prompt closed ? That is strange.

panic: top_env is a perl problem. See this link or search for top_env on the forums.

EDIT: I see you are trying to run a 5.2 server. I assume you have the compatible client for that version and are not patched to live. 5.3DR2 is the most current and works with the current live client.

I've not used the Perl build myself, but one of the posts says to make sure that your \perl\bin directory is at the start of your path, so you could try adding:

Quote:
set PATH=c:\perl\bin;%PATH%
to the start of boot5zones.bat (amending to where your perl\bin directory actually is). If that doesn't work, all I can suggest is searching the forums for Perl info, or waiting until someone else comes along who has used the Perl build and knows what to do. Good luck.

Try reading and doing what Lurker_005 says in the second post on this thread regarding IO::Scalar.

I may be wrong but I assume that Perl is intigrated into the binaries so you need perl to run the server.

Well it looks like your past rpoblems with IP's but if your running everything on a single computer, all your IP's should be 127.0.0.1

Are you using minilogin? If so you need to read some of the minilogin threads.
If not, make sure you have EQ setup to login to the EQEmu login servers (eqhosts.txt file in your EQ dir) and that you aren't patching EQ when you start it (eqgame.exe patchme)
