ok im a complete noob to this and im very interested.

sofar from reading forums and stuff i have a fair idea of how it works but im still unsure so can you plz verafy if these points are right or wrong...

1/ its free to play on EQEMu servers.
2/ u dont need to download software to play, just change file information.
3/ to play by urself on your own PC u have to download sum files.

if point 3 is true, which files do i need to download? and with point 3 is it possible to play while not linked to the internet?

1. yes its free
2.you dont need to download anything to play, just have EQ installed.
3. you used to be able to play by yourself on your computer with minilogin but i believe its broken and no one is going to fix it...but you could make your own server and just lock it so only you can get on.

Even if you do make your own server without using minilogin and lock it you wiil need to be on the internet for at least the part where you login to the login servers. I have no idea what would happen if you login to the login server and then your own server and disconnect your internet after that. It should theoretically work, but it may behave strangely once the server is still running but not on a login server. Or you can wait until someone decides to write a new minilogin for scratch.
