My eqhost.txt keeps getting overwritten

I have made my eqhost file read-only, but it still gets overwritten when I try to start Eq.

I put the patchme in the shortcut to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using any patchers for a specific server?

Not that I know of. I am just setting everything up and have been unable to get connected to the EQemu servers at all.

Do you have your shortcut pointing to eqgame.exe or everquest.exe?

Try using EQWindows then, http://eqwindows.com/ is where you can find the download. You can select not to run the patcher when you boot up and it should not edit any files.

Okay, now I get to the login screen, and when I put in the username and pw it shuts down on me. No errors, just shutdown. Everything goes away.

Any ideas?

Download http://www.eqemulator.net/eqhost.txt and set it to read only and download http://www.eqemulator.net/eqlsClient.ini then try again.

I don't think you need the second file, it's only for registering an account. If you didn't allready, all you would need to do it register at http://www.eqemulator.net/eqaccount.php (Thanks khuong

I've seen a few people say that they were crashing and then the only change they made was downloading that second file and it stopped crashing. I don't really see how this is true unless they editted and messed up that file, but I tell people to anyway since its at least possible that it may help and it can't hurt.

I finally got in.

The problem was copying the text from the page doesn't seem to get it right. I had to actually download the file and then make it read-only.

Mission accomplished!!

Now, what do I need to do to get on the "Legends" servers?

uhhh like the official one?

Are you planning to play on live eq through eqemu? If so i have bad news. you can't, you can only play on unofficial servers

Legends servers are jsut the most stable and popular ones. You patched recently so you can only lpay on 5.7 DR6 servers.
