Default General Connectivity Issue...

Hmmm... I honestly don't know if this is even something that can be helped, but its REALLY annoying. I did not start having this problem untill the most recent version of the Emu (3.3.1) came out. I don't run a server... my problem is that once the "server people" started using the most recent version, it became extremely difficult if not impossible to connect/stay connected. First, half the time only half the severs would show up on the server select screen, and it would require me to log out and back in once or twice to see them all. That seems to be fixed now, but the other problems remain. A lot of times it will just crash to the desktop after selecting a char (and yes I do have the right patch currently, I have a seperate EqEmu folder). Even when I do make it onto the server, I spawn in and instantly start going LD untill the lag bar reaches 100 and I get the disconnect message. Occasionaly, after having given up for a day or two, I'll log in and it will be fine for an hour or two, and then I'll start getting these problems again, and I'll get one or the other EVERY TIME it try to log in, causing me to eventually give up again. I don't think this is just me... my friend had the same troubles from his house. And I can play Live just fine. I've tried adjusting DataRate, no effect. Is this just a problem with this version of the Emu? I have noticed a great many of the old big popular servers (such as Eros, though I've never played there) never came back after 3.3.1 came out. Anything I can do, or must I wait for 3.4? *sighs*

I think a lot of people are having this problem but their posts are scatteredt around the boards. I to have the same problem and have done everything from adjusting datarate to adjusting video down to lowest possible quality. Still the same. I am using minilogin and may need to try using the other login program. Will post if that helps any. Any ideas to help this would be appreciated.

I also frequently get this problem (lag bar going up as soon as I log in, until it disconnects). I've found that starting up all the servers, then closing them down and starting them up again sometimes fixes the problem. However it is very annoying. Some versions of EQEmu seem to do this more than others.
Usually, for me, it either does this every time you log in or doesn't do it at all; however sometimes I start to go LD when interacting with a merchant.

Yea it seems to be rather intermitant. Restarting the server windows if you have lag, or just re-logging in sometimes helps. I don't remember seeing any definate solutions other than keep trying, and it will sometimes work great.
