Default not a bad idea

Thats not a bad idea. But there are some files that shouldnt be backed up because they are usless. I plan on posting every file that is backed up ( not posting the files ) but the names of the files. when the game is patched. that way you all dont have to fill your harddrives up with usless files. and you can just read my post before you patch that way you know what files to back up that way if the patch breaks stuff you can just replace the patched files with the old ones. ( i will also post when everquest is saposed to be patched about a week in advanced ) that is unless everquest pulls one of them emergency patches which with them they dont have down on there site. ( oh and if i said anything in here that goes aginst the rules please just delete this message i typed and tell me in a pm please ) I dont want to get banned i love this project ( even thought i cant realy use it now because i formated computer and reinstalled everquest with full patch )

Theres nothing wrong with posting that information...

However, since people generally don't bother reading when they're told not too patch in the first place, what makes you think they're going to pay anymore attention to your notes, however well intended? By the time they read it, it will be when they're coming back going. 'WTF??' There are always notes ahead of time not to patch..

This is a cycle we go through after every patch.. You dont need to save everything, but it doesnt hurt... Personally, I think it's alot easier keeping one backup directory in a pristine state than having too mix and match files everytime I want to switch from eqlive to eqemu, but hey, thats just me..

It's not a bad idea, and I appluad you for trying to convey that information ahead of time for the benefit of the users, especially considering how much Verant patches. (Going to be alot of work!)

It's morning here, and I have a wicked case of insomnia.

Default well

they realy dont update to much when they patch just like maybe 2 to 7 files. and if they are to lazy to just read the post that i put then thats there problem. and when there emu breaks im going to sit back and laugh because they were to stupid to folow directions. you got to admit. they are to lazy to read the files that they are told to read. and then when things go wrong they start crying about it. and asking us for help. when they had the awnsers infront of them the intire time. ( i hope i didnt afend anyone with what i just said im just stating the blunt truth)

EDITED::: I thought i should update this and mention that not everyone is to stupid and lazy to do what they are told but there are some people like i talked about out there -----> you know who you are :p

I formated my computer a week ago so i dont have then files eather but thats not because i wasnt following directions its because i had computer problems and found only one way to fix it :P

You wouldnt believe how many people decide not to read a thing... well, i'm covered next patch after 0.3.4 because this is at the top and next to step one in the readme.txt now:

****CAUTION****!!!!!!!!: Do NOT patch (run Everquest.exe) to get the latest version of EQ unless you
talk to someone in the Chat room or on the forums and thay say it's okay to patch. Failing to do so may result in connection problems and cannot be fixed untill the next version of EQemu is released.

Hehe yeah i had plenty of disk space and it made sense to make a complete backup of the directory since i also play EQLive. I never have to bother changing any host files any more and it's not bothering me that it's taking approximately 2.5gb.
