Default Storm Haven

Storm Haven is a new custom-legit server that I created on Jan 11th based on the PEQ database. I have been developing at a pretty fast rate and already have exp zones with custom loot tables, custom quests for class armor sets, custom epic quests, custom tradeskill recipes, and other interesting quests all of the way up to level 70. Nexus is setup as a base camp with everything you need including Server Greeter, Spell Scriber, Soul Binder, All Class GM trainers, a merchant, teleporter and quest NPCs.

The forums for the server are located here:

http://stormhavenserver.com

Server stats are:
OS: Debian Linux
AMD 3700+ CPU
3GB RAM
Dual Hard Drives running RAID 0
Cable Internet Connection - 10Mb down / 1Mb up

Here is a list of the current projects as of this post. This is directly from my forums and is updated regularly:

Current Project(s):
- Choosing the first real end-game zone that will be designed for small to full group encounters with nice rewards and epic 1.5 quests
- Constantly thinking of new ideas for quests and other content

Already Completed Projects:
- Server Created Jan 11th 2008
- Nexus base completed with spell scriber, soul binder, class GM trainers, server greeter, merchant, bankers, and many quest npcs.
- Nexus created original custom temporary and permanent de-leveling quests to allow players to drop levels to play with friends or alts.
- Crushbone zone models updated
- Crushbone loot tables updated
- Crushbone armor quest added
- ToFS some model updates
- ToFS added key drops for all floors to certain named
- ToFS loot tables updated
- ToFS tradeskill class armor set quests completed
- Nexus added a forge to nexus for tradeskill armor
- Nexus added augment device to nexus

- ToFS added Epic 1.0 quests and modified Epic stats for all classes
- Vex Thal modified to be for levels 50-60. All drops stayed the same
- Server-Wide Lowered Recommended and Required levels on all items level 45 and up
- ToFS set the Shadow Torches to drop armor molds 100% of the time for people lacking molds.
- Vex Thal adjusted all named spawn timers and made them all slow-able to be more in-line with the zone
- Delveb added loot and quest items to the zone
- Delveb adjusted zone in point, mob pathing, spawn timers and other fine tuning
- Server-wide upped max level from 65 to 70 (70 was what I originally intended, but 65 is default)
- Server-wide set naked corpses to be left. You don't need to corpse run to get your gear back, but now you can rez
- Devleb 2 new quests for the zone. One for a nice custom earring and the other is a custom ring
- Devleb added a class armor set quest
- Renamed server to new official name Storm Haven

Nope, lol. I just wanted a server name that sounded like the name of a castle. I googled castle names and saw one with Haven in it, and then made a list of possibilities. I liked Storm Haven the most, although Windhaven was close behind. The initials SH roll off the tongue easier than WH though :P

It kinda reminds me of a cross between Stormwind from WoW and Shadowhaven from EQ. So now you know the history of the name

Quick update on server status:

The first end-game zone is in place for small to full groups of level 70 players. The zone is the Plane of Time B and it has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. I respawned the entire zone, trying to stay as close to live as possible, but made changes needed since it is not an instanced zone. All original spawn names and races have been set as close to live as I can remember. Phase 1, 2 and the top part of phase 3 share the loot tables of Quarm and Ralloz Zek from timeb on live. For phases 4 to Quarm, the loot tables have been added custom to be better than the previous phases. When you first zone in, you are in the earth room in phase 1. You must kill the boss and the adds there to get an item that can be turned in to teleport your group to the next room of phase one. This keeps people outside your group from being able to follow you through or jump ahead of you while clearing through the first few phases. I have also added in tokens that people can gather to get instant ports to later phases in the zone, so they don't have to clear the lower phases if they don't need loot from them anymore. I will leave any further details for people to find out on their own. Just know that it has been a lot of work and I have tried to put a good variety in the zone to make it fun for all that attempt it.

Timeb is the main zone to gather parts for the 1.5 epic quests, although 2 other zones will have items required for the 1.5 quest as well. There is a quest for a nice slot upgrade (not saying which to keep some surprise in it). I am also going to add in an armor quest unlike any others so far on the server! I should have that in within a day or 2.

I will most likely still be tuning some encounters to make them harder or easier as needed. But, for the most part, I feel it is pretty complete.

My server has up to 30 or so players on at peak times right now, so it is starting to build a good player base. Check my forums in my sig for more information or if you have any questions, you can post there.

I will check that out. That would have been better posted on my own forums in the bugs section though. I am not sure why paladins would have that issue only on my server. I haven't done anything to classes or skills. I think you were talking about the same issue with a 2HB as well. I don't think anyone else has had that same problem.

The only thing I can think of is that the issue is on your client side. Since it crashes you to desktop, but the zone doesn't crash or anything. Normally if the issue was server side, it would cause the zone to crash too.

I will make a paladin tonight and try out some 2 handed weapons. If it works fine for me, I would suggest reinstalling Titanium.

This server has been a blast for me and a group of my friend. We have really enjoyed the good work put into the exp and raid zones and really good and fun boss encounters. It is not all Tons of HP like some servers out there. And now Secrets of Faydwer is being integrated and beta is now out. Check it out if you are looking for a well done server with a consitant hard working staff.

Hey everyone,

I used to play EQ way back in the day, right around when Kunark came out, right up until the Berserker class came out. Last year I had bought EQ Titanium and played some EQEmu. I had played on Krusher's server and the EZ Server (I think) and had a lot of fun. Krusher's got a bit boring just because it was so easy to get any gear you wanted using commands and such. EZ was a bit better, but was still very easy to get uber gear.

So I have decided that this summer I am going to play some EQEmu again and I am currently looking to see what server I would like to play on. This server looks promising and Trevius appears to be very organized and dedicated. I just have a few questions about the server.

1. I read on your website that XP is accelerated slightly. I am looking to get up to level 60+, but don't want it to be ridiculously easy or ridiculously long. I was just wondering if this server's XP rate a good balance of making it feel like an accomplishment without it being an absolute grind.

2. I hate starting out and having terrible gear without having any way to get better gear but I also don't like to have uber gear right off the get go. I was wondering if you server had any way for a mid-level character to level and get decent gear as you go, or maybe give you a decent starting package at all (I couldn't find anything regarding this on your website). Example: Is there any zones with a custom loot table which gives mid-level character a chance to get some decent gear that lets them get the ability to solo. I just feel that without a giant community, it may be difficult to equip a low to mid level character without a good economy.

3. Is soloing a viable option on this server? (I would most likely playing a Shaman or Necromancer) Or is the server heavily group oriented.

Thanks I hope to hear some answers and hope to be joining your server in a few weeks once my university finals are over!

Xp 1-70 is relatively fast...maybe a few nights of playing at most. 70-75 requires turn ins, which, unless you have a group you probably wont be doing it too fast.

Soloing is easy 1-70, 70-75 there isn't much content at all that a solo class can do. It is mainly bust out the quest turn ins for 70-75, and join a guild that can do the content. Other than that, you will be grinding the same few zones nonstop.

Hope you enjoy the server!

I just wanted to send this post back to the top - for anyone who hasn't played here before it is by far the best (imo) emu server. I've played on a variety of servers and nobody does content like Stormhaven.

Once you hit 75 pretty much every boss fight is going to be custom with something other then spank and tank. This is not a server of just keep fighting the exact same fights but with bigger numbers.

We have 4 tiers at 75, all of which contain multiple zones, the latest of which features several real instances and some awesome new content.

Come check out the hard work Trev and Kayen are doing!

Just wanted to send this one back to the top again.

If anyone is looking for a server with a small amount of boxing (3 is the max without contributing a few bucks, 4 is the max with that) then I highly recommend Stormhaven. It is not your typical super easy Emu server, its pretty easy to get started (There is leveling content for 1-70 in both Titanium zones and SoF zones) but once you hit the raid tiers it can get very difficult, but very fun. Some of the best scripted encounters I have seen, Kayen and Trev definitely stay ahead of everyone else in regards to what they offer.
