Default Login Problem

This problem isn't affecting ME directly, it's affecting anyone who tries to log onto my server. Me trying to log onto it is another story.

I use DSL via a Linksys router / LAN...I've searched through various posts and have seen this problem hinted at but never saw a solution, at least one that worked for me.

This is the output of my World.exe when someone attempts to connect to my server:

37360 New client from ip: 65.29.**.** port: 20596
Logged in: LS#6040: sethorn

Removing client from ip:65.29.**.** port:20596

boot5zones.bat:

start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7995 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7996 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7997 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7998 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7999 localhost

LoginServer.ini:

[LoginServer]
loginserver=eqlogin1.eqemu.net
loginport=5999
worldname=Hihi's Magical
locked=false
account=
password=
worldaddress=phaedo.homeip.net

[WorldServer]
Defaultstatus=
Unavailzone=

[LoginConfig]
ServerMode=Standalone
ServerPort=5999
UplinkAddress=
UplinkPort=
UplinkAccount=
UplinkPassword=

Zone windows don't do anything at all. I can't think of any other relevant information.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Phaedo

NM Fixed.

If anyone else is experiencing this problem, what did it for me was just updating my router's firmware (www.linksys.com).

EDIT: Actually, I was mistaken. Other users still cannot connect to my server, they get disonnected at character select screen. I've seen this on the boards in a few other spots, but didn't see any applicable fixes, so if someone knows something that may help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Phaedo

Do you have a block of IPs for your DSL connection, or are you using 192.168.x.x behind your linksys router?

Since that is private IP space, no one will be able to log into your server if it is using 192.168.x.x. You may be able to se up port forwarding on your linksys router to forward the port to the system running the server.

I believe you need to forward both TCP/UDP for ports 7995-7999 and 9000.

Oh, I guess I misunderstood you.

I don't have it directing people to my private IP, at least I don't think I am. phaedo.homeip.net is a hostname for my public (dynamic) IP. I have Port Forwarding set up those ports. I think it must be something related to a local IP issue -- like I said, I can get on fine, but no one else can. The files above are still the same -- anyone see any problems with them? Or any router issues that might be causing it? This is annoying. :P

as btuch said port foward 7995-7999 and 9000 to your EQEmu servers 192.168.*.* IP

On linksys it is called virtual servers.

Fixed -that- problem by changing my HOSTS file to have my hostname direct to my IP.

Now, however, no one can load zones, not even me, and like I said above, I used to be able to fine, but no one else could even get onto server.

They DO run on minilogin when I try it just locally, but when it's on EQEmu login server, nada. So, it must be something with my IPs being setup wrong somewhere related to my zones.

boot5zones.bat still looks the same:

start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7995 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7996 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7997 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7998 localhost
start zone . phaedo.homeip.net 7999 localhost

the error looks like

Client dropped: GetAuthentication = 0, n=Blah
Dropping client: Process=false, ip=****, port=1838
