Default NPCs/items

I just downloaded EQEmu today, and was successful in setting up a server, unfortunately, I've had a few problems getting NPCs and items into the game. I've attempted to stick them in a few times myself, and I usually get an error message after I type "source replaceddb.sql (I've been using the new db used by khong)" It keeps spamming the same error line about spells. I've gone through several forum posts and found a few covering placing NPCs, but none of them ever seemed to have a very in-depth tutorial. I've only been on the forums for a day now, so I may have missed a post covering it, but I was wondering if anyone could post a quick tutorial on how to do this. I'm pretty good at following instructions (didn't screw up setting my own server up, at least! whee ) and a real quick description should help me out a ton. Thanks in advance!

err, forgot to mention, I can spawn NPCs with no problem, I just can't get them to appear throughout the zone, although after reading a few posts I think I may have to do that manually and just make sure they get saved (somehow, not sure yet, but I'm sure I'll learn soon). Is this true, or can I download a database that has a full set of NPC spawns for various zones?

Alot of that depends on the database you are using. If it doesnt have the spawn info it won't appear. This is mainly because I think some of the Database creators are not spending alot of time on spawns until pathing, etc are all worked out. I may be wrong, but this is my viewpoint.
