AD&D Everquest?

Well i was thinking. It would be really cool to play online sessions of D&D, on everquest. You could make it real interesting too, because there are alot of possibilities. Like, you could make it into an hour or so GM event, and then the server goes down until next session. OR you could just putup the server and have everyone sit in zone, and RolePlay RolePlaying. Which is kind of wierd, but you could sit thereand role play while roleplaying.

Alright, thats enough for me, you all probably think im insane.
But post replies to let me know what you think.

i see what you are getting at and I love the idea...too bad most of the eq audience doenst have the mental capacity to roleplay

I agree, it's a cool idea.. Wiz use to do it on his server, he would run campaigns on it...

Why not use it for that? A good GM should be able to summon mobs as needed, plus you have the rand command for roling...

Just a sterotype thing... I have waist length hair, so most people normally sterotype me as a 'hippie' or 'pothead' , the same way that I tend to classify people in tiedyed potleaf shirts as 'idiots' and 'burnouts'...

LOL.. Its a sad, judgemental world we live in, but its a good idea to keep your life choices to yourself.

And I wasnt calling you an idiot, but I was commenting on the fact that a guy that wants the entire worlds first impression of him online to be a giant joint commenting on the mentality level of eq players in general, just struck me as funny...

Yeah, I have been wanting a way to play D&D for a long time (nobody in the area has the brain capacity to even appreciate Everquest :cry: ) and this might just be it. This is off topic, does anyone know where you can get an online-ish version of it, other than playing it over IRC?

well, since there was such a good response maybe ill try to set it up? i figure. All i will do is run one zone, like say high keep or so and we can roleplay characters, and through those characters we can play D&D. For battles we can either roll it out. or i can summon the monsters up, but i dont know how easy that will be.

Send me a PM if you are interested in joining. If you want to DM it, that would be even better, but i dont know how many people would be willing to.

I would suggest getting a copy of NeverWinter Nights. It is a good base for the type of game you are probably looking for.... It is hard to explain how it is, except, WOW

a good idea is to have all the characters start in a bustling city (namely Freeport or Qeynos) and venture off to a dungeon (splitpaw, befallen, blackburrow, or the like) for lower levels (yes making splitpaw a lower level dungeon) and have the creatures on the way there kind of around the same level. So it really feels like you are adventuring. maybe even limiting the levels to 20 just like in D&D and have the exp table go like 1000 exp for lvl 1, 2000 more to reach level 2, 4000 to reach 3, 8000 to reach 4 and so on and so forth.

NWN is really cool for this type of idea...but i like Blood kane's to...it goes with the D & D concept very well

I think i see your point, alittle bit of induced questing. I could really run it like, i have say for example, what the previous post said, but to throw in more RP i could posess npcs and kind of force things. if that sounds right.

and by the way, i bought NWN the day it came out and i thought it sux0red, so i gave it to my brother. It was a good concept i guess, but not what i wanted. to many fag0s on there. I liked how you could use one character for all games, but these fag0s would like twink their character by having their friend DM a game with ub3r lewtz. So no one hosts games like that. This may be better though, or worse. I just dont know if i can host the server. If someone has good enough equipment and can run the server for however long the sessions would be, that would be great, i wouldnt mind DMing.

I am the serverop of restless woe and if you folks wanna run role play events on there just let me know when and what not. i have the new combination telmet/drawde db installed. i unfortunately do not know nearly as much about making eqadmin work well for me. i will also be running some storyline type stuff in the next few weeks (if i can figure out how to add spawns without making them mob sit in the middle of zone) anyhow contact me at rageofwar@charter.net or pm me if interested. im also on yahoo "crystalwinterwinds"
