New guy with a few questions

Hi I was just introduced to this site recently, and cannot figure out exactly what you guys are doing. I just have a few questions. I am an ex eq'er, who enjoyed it but not paying for it. Ok, on with the questions.......First is this an emulated version of eq in that it's its own game made to be like eq, and with the same exact stuff? Or do you have to have the game to use the program? Second, and most importantly how do you use the program. I couldnt figure that out by browsing. If you could please help me I would much appreciate it. Thanks

The first part of the Readme on the main site easily explains how to play on the EMU servers...you dont even have to download anything! (unless you have patched eq live) Yes you need everquest installed to play. The emulator is FREE.
But being free means that it is a bit behind and not as stable as sony. There are a few legit servers, some are fun, some are just like eq. Guild Wars=best and funnest legit server

other servers are non legit and you can zone anywhere, summon items, level yourself, etc.

ok cool thanks alot. which servers are legit, and have a good amount of people on them? I plan to play on guildwars if it still exists in a few day, but just incase.

most legit servers will have "LEGIT" in the name..but here recently I find it hard to find a true NON LEGIT server. Moon Phoenix and Dil's World Server seem to be the only stable ones.

Where is a good guide to using the non-legit servers. I like the prospect of summoning, leveling etc. but have no idea where to start looking.

but the readme on the main site has all the #race numbers, how to summon items, search for items, how to spawn monsters, how to level, how to set skills, etc.
