Default Would it work if...

I'm new to EQEmu and I really want to just setup a Lan Server with my bros. I understand that me and well, pretty much every other noob that wants to play has to wait till the next EQEmu to come out. I was sitting and i was wondering if i get the latest EQemu file and then, from a blank instal go to Shadows of Luclin and not patch, should i be able to run a Lan server and connect from the same machine, and others if i follow the same procedure?
Just a thought. I'm about to just try it out and see, from trial and error. Man this noob buz is hard :P Cant wait to play EQ not on a Sony server.

P.S.
Devs, You guys rock, seriously ingenious.

no simply put no
First of all you need the most up to date files to play a "current" eqemu when 5.0 comes out (theoretically)
so simply put you will have to update, sorry

Not so simply put, Did you know that there are multiple installs that eq released? And each time they come out with a series of installs they put the current (at that time of distribution) version of EQ on it. So if you had the original / kunark / vellious / SoL discs they would have different files than say EQ Gold or EQ Trilogy or yada yada you understand what i mean? But would be cool. Dont ask about the patcher though, im sure they will work something out. Its just they got tired of people asking so just wait patiently kk
