Default Stats of a computer in 3 years...

Just an interesting question... In about 3 years what do you think a computers proccesor speed / ram / space / etc would be? For around $1,500 (seems like an average price)? Just curious =P

There won't be computers in 3 years.

Computers will give way to the rise of application specific computational devices. (ideally).

Thats my 2 cents.

IN 3 years?

I doubt it...

I'm guessing we're going to be on the low curve of Moores Law, unless some real innovations come to frutation (which I doubt will be 3 years). There have been some incredible innovations in organic computing, and quatum computing, but I'm guessing that 3 years from today we'll be looking at a 6ghz machine or so. In 10 years, I think there will be some amazing accomplishments, but not within 3.

statistics show that computer technology doubles every 18 months. so at current we are at 3.3 gigs i think. which means it would double twice to equal 3 years. making 3 years from now a 13.2 gig processor.

I'm wagering thats a bit high... We're hitting the limit of how small we can make these things with current manufacturing processes.. Even Moore himself has come out and said that his rules are no longer applying.. Until some fundamentally new ideas come out in processor design and motherboards.. I'm betting youre going to see more advents in parallel processing than you are going to see in flat out speed increases (look at hyperthreading for instance)

Well for $1500 it will depend on what you wnat to buy witht he tesitng of oleds and other things like this we "could" havea moniter that works like the old movie screens and as for the speed it is certainly not tapped out yet. 3 years ago no one even thought about wifi, and now everyone knows what it is. I am hoping that in 3 years Microsoft will finally have to release a "good" OS and maybe even make it's products work with itself. I also think Mac and Linux will be taking a larger chunk of the market, Mac because they have games now, and Linux because it does not matter what architecture you use they will work. Then again do you mean real money or adjusted money? because 3 years from now $1500 will nto be worth $1500.

As for me for $1500 I will probably be able to buy a 5ghz machine with 2-3 gig of ram a nice moniter and lots of money left over cause I will not buy windows OS...no point in buying something that I will never use.

in 1960, 1970, 1980, people in these time thouth in year 2000 computer will think on there own, robots would clean our houses and cook are dinner. They also thouth we would have space ships and flying card lol
well is 2003 and i have let to see one of those thing come try and happen. so who to says whats going to happen in 3 years lol
what i think it that there will be a big changes...
Like only being able to install windows on 1 computer
being able to listen to a CD a few time then it stops working
and so on i could go on forever on thing i that i herd about

also i think the CPUs speed is just about maxed out i think the hightest we will ever see is 20Ghz and instead of 1 CPU there will be 2 or more

oh well this is just what i think .....

Yes I have heard of the glorious DVDs that biodegrade to a unworkable point within a few days...how lame is that.
