Default Was wondering something.

One of my web servers uses mysql and I was wondering something. Is there a way to set up a database to just run off that server versus using my own pc?

It would run slow even if I used one of my paid servers to host this on? And how exactly would I set that up to run off a web server using mysql? Do I just upload certain files to a folder or what exactly? The reason I thought about it was because I thought it'd run alot more stable like the live servers versus running it off my own machine. You say load most of the db into memory? Wouldn't it only load up whatever zone you were in at the time?

Its almost no different than using the instructions to set up the mysql database on your own pc, then only difference would be an extra mysql grant command you would need to run and a different ip address in the db.ini

I use to build and run servers on both windows and linux, but my database was always on my linux box so its no different...

It will be slower, transfer speeds over the internet are much slower than LAN speeds, thats just a fact. Probably would be horrible (especially using compression), but it would be slower..
