Default Need some help...I CAN log in

I have searched for this already but cannot come up with anything.

I installed Titanium, ran the steps for EMU. I get to the character selection screen and I can only see the outlines of textures and characters. I cannot see my characters face....everything looks like a big grey shadow. When I log in I get the same thing. I can see NPC text, click on them, interact with them, but everything is all shadowy, even the open space inbetween characters.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

There was some discussion on this in another thread and it seems like it was a video driver issue. Make sure you have latest, etc, etc.

I tried doing latest driver from nvidia ( I have a 7800GT), downloaded it, when I booted eq up it said I should download version 8185....I loaded eq anyways, same problem happened. So then I tried 8185...same problem...

Any other ideas?
THanks

Not to be a doom-sayer or anything, but about 6 months ago I had a similar issue with my wife's computer...turned out it was the video card (nVidia 440 MX, yeah, I know older that dirt) itself that was bad as within a week of seeing the artifacting and graphic glitches, I got a BSOD, rebooted the comp, and no screen ever came back up. I swapped the card out for a nVidia 5200 a friend gave me and things booted up normally and EQ runs as it should with the new card. The fact you added in a line that removed hardware SnL doesn't bode well for your card being good...

But from a more troubleshooting stand-point:
Does the card crash or have any graphics/rendoring errors in any other program/game since you started noticing it in EQ?
What exact system specs do you have? power supply, motherboard, ram (and ammount), CPU, video card (AGP or PCI-Express), hard drives/optical drives (and ammount), additional add-in cards, CPU cooler, any additional cooling, mouse/keyboard, speakers (and thier location around your computer/room particularly a sub if you have one), and the temp of your room
What OS are you using?
What applications do you have running in the back-ground?
What settings do you have on for EQ? models, texture quality/compression, sound, dynamic lighting, resolution, ect...
Are you running EQ in a window or full-screen?
Is EQ set to run the same refresh rate as your desktop?
Are you over-clocking anything? If so, what and to what speeds?

Friend of mine had this issue also. It was the video drivers that caused it. This may not be the case for you, but also check to see if its rending by software or hardware. Which ever its using now, try going the other route. Just an idea.....

Well I added that line because other posts here said to try it. I tried it and it did not work. I ran a 3dmark 06 test on it and it passed fine. Computer has no graphic problem with anything else. I was playing eqlive a couple months ago with no problems.
System is Pentium D 2.8 ghz
2 gig ram
windows xp pro
100gb Hard drive
pioneer dvd burner
PCI Express Nvidia 7800 GT
No mods, no add ons
3 Case fans cooling pc
Room stays at about 60 degrees
Wireless mouse and keyboard
5.1 surround sound, sub is under the desk, pc is inside of a side cabinet to the desk...sub is on the other side of the case.

I think that answers it all
Thanks

There are a few questions you didn't answer that might help out.

What settings do you have on for EQ? models, texture quality/compression, sound, dynamic lighting, resolution, ect...
Are you running EQ in a window or full-screen?
Is EQ set to run the same refresh rate as your desktop?

If you open your nvidia control panel (located inside windows control panel),on the left hand side of the nvidia window there should be a "3D Settings" tree. Expand it, the click on "Monitor Temperature Levels". It should open a new window. On that window in the lower right corner there is a button with "->" on it, click it to view the GPU monitor. You want to keep your temps below 90 degrees C while playing games. Leave that open and boot up EQ, let it run for a few mins in game, then quit EQ and see where the monitor had your temp spike to while playing. This should tell you if you are having a cooling issue or not and will rule out just about everything hardware wise as the problem.

Since you reported no problems with 3dmark06, your speaker shouldn't be causing an issue even though it is right next to your tower...I would still think on moving the sub to at least the other side of your leg space than where your tower is because of the large magnets in subs that can cause data loss/corruption on hard drives when they are too close.

depending on your EQ settings, you should look at turning the game down to 800x600, turn off all models, clear all check boxes on the screen after the models, and change the texture level to low. once that is done, run EQ in full-screen mode if it's not(alt+enter at the login screen should change between windowed and full-screen modes). If you had to change modes, exit EQ and re-run it to make sure all the settings and screen modes are applied correctly. try logging in and see if your graphics are still messed up. if they are, double check the refresh, resolution, and bit depth in game by pressing alt+O, clicking the display tab, then clicking video modes. Also under the display tab, click the advanced button in the lower right and turn off all options and reduce dynamic sky to tiny(32), sky reflections update interval to once per minuet, and shadowclip plane to the far left.

If your EQ graphics are still messed up, my money would be on corrupted EQ files so un-install/reinstall. If it works after the above, then start turning things back on one at a time until it stops working and you will know your culprit. Odds are it would still mean a corrupted file somewhere as I know several people who play with a 7800GT, so you might still want to redo EQ and see if you can crank things back up. Keep in mind my comment on subs and thier magnets, I had a similar issue with my 5.1 surround sound until one day I got fed up and removed the sound system, hooked it up to my TV, and suddenly my randomly corrupted file problem went away.

I'm not sure if this will make a difference (hopefully just a typo), but it should actually be TnL not SnL. TnL stands for Texture and Lighting.
