Default Nasty People

You nasty people:
Quote:
EQEMu 0.2.0 released 1/21/2001

Download from sourceforge

The client version has changed. Use the current client from live servers. Just patch to live and replace eqhost.txt.
There are DB changes, use the new one.
There are changes to loginserver.ini format.

Most buffs working.
Reworked GMs being anon on the /who all.
/toggle works now.
Added the ability to limit who can access a zone (by level and/or GM status).
Reworked GM levels: 10=PU, 100=GM, 150=LGM, 200=ServerOP.
Added code to tack "000", "001", "002", etc onto NPC names automatically.
New #spawn syntax.
Bind and Gate working
Added "zone mirroring". This means you can say, boot up a zone called lavastorm2 that uses the lavastorm files client side, but is a seperate zone from lavastorm.
You are nasty people. I cannot patch to live, and would very much like to use the new EQemu. Can someone upload the needed client? Please?

I am not asking for a pirated copy of EQ, just the needed client files that I do not already have from previos compatible versions.

I last patched around 20th december 2001, if that helps.

Please upload the files so I can get them :(.

Bunga it`s very unlikely that they will follow your request, because they could get into serious troubles for doing so. And im sure thats the least you wish them.

It`s my understanding that the communication between server and client now works like in the real enviroment. If so, this would mean you can just patch your eq (non sol) to todays standard and use the client in the pre sol zones.

However you would not be able to see the new zones. I dont know about the graphics and the Bst Class.

Regards
Gino

btw for anyone who didn't notice, you can patch everything without having an ACTIVE account. stop being silly and go patch.

I know all that. I also know that I cannot patch. I do have an active account. But since I am firewalled, and dont get home to my account untill Easter (boarding school), I simply cannot patch.

If someone wants to be nice to me, just send the updated files (as far as I remember they show in the log) to sv_bunga@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it. No one will get in trouble for it.

Please?

Uhhh no! No Can Do. Go ask a friend to send you those files. I'm sure you have friends who play as well. As stated above, I don't think you'll be getting those files from anyone here. No one here wants to do anything to threaten the existance of this emu. If it could possibly get us or the team in trouble, then I highly doubt anyone will risk it. We've ALL been waiting for a long time (years) for a group to go ahead and build what the EQEmu team is building. None of us are going to throw that all away.

Sorry!

Default a couple of points (or more)

First, notice that the patching happens before you login to the account. So the two parts are separate.

But, also eqgame patchme should allow you to run the client without needing to patch -- at least thats the way it worked for me the other day using the HQ emu.

As usual, I recommend that you make a copy of you EQ directory to try things out, if you have the disk space for it. And try eqgame patchme to see if that gets you going. You may also have to experiment with eqw 2.1 and eqw 2.2.

If this build works as cleanly with SoL as I expect it will, this is going to be a very nice change. Very nice indeed.

**added**
just finished the dl and see that the install guide has changed. I see that they recommend eqw 2.2 -- 2.1 won'r run with SoL.

I am not wild about using a login server that is not part of my own network, but right now that seems to be the only working way to get things going.

Ok... I do have one other place to get it from, which is not a friend who plays EQ, since the only frinds I have who play EQ are in different hemispheres to me.

I suppose I can get them in a different way though, thanks for the info at least.
Madborg: I do know how to patch. I do know how to use patchme. My problem is that, oh never mind. Thanks anyway guys.

yes we understand that you cannot figure out how to patch from behind the firewall that you are behind. Have you tried to run the new version with your current patch level? It's possible that it will work if you have a recent patch level. As for anyone here sending you any files from eq, it isn't going to happen.

open a dos box. cd to where you working eq directory is -- the client stuff. then type

eqgame patchme

this bypasses the patch process.

Default Patching

This is just for some of the people that don't know. If you run the patch with altered or missing eq files. The patcher will download the proper files for you, overwriting the ones that were changed for the emu and any you delete.
