Default Q about bard songs

When I try to cast a bard song it says sorry I cant do group spell yet or something like that, is there a way to still use the song just as if it was a single target song or something?? Like if I want to use selo's song of travel but am not a bard ( not sure if bards can do them either havent checked) I tried putting it as an effect on items but it doesn't work either gives me the same msg, what can I do?

As shawn stated, group songs will not work at all, but you may still use self only songs.
