actually............
Actually hes right..
Being in IT myself I can see when theres a connection issue. There are HUNDREDS of people with this problem albeit alot of them have done this incorrectly.
You say the files are located on this server? Are they located on a subdomain? I noticed a lot of people can access the main site but can't get into the forums. I personally got this working but have a few friends who cant get access. I thought originally by looking at the log files that it was trying to connect to www.foreverhacking.com and also noticed that the people having these problems where able to see the site but unable to ping the site.
Does the patcher use an address or an IP to connect? I know for a fact there are lots of people having connection issues and I do agree with those that say this is definatley a dns issue. Could we change the patcher to connect to an IP address instead of a named address? Also could we move the files to the root domain instead of having it on a subdomain if thats the case?
Thanks

oops
I forgot to add how I know this is a DNS issue..
When the files where on www.foreverhacking.net I noticed they where able to see the site somehow but unable to ping it in dos. Also if I gave them the ip address of the site they were NOT able to ping it.
Val or whatever your name is. Try and open up a dos box and see if you can ping www.eqemu.net . If you get unable to resolve host, you have a corrupt TCP/IP protocol and need to reinstall it. If you get bad host or no reply error message the answer is that your isp has disabled your ability to ping it. Also note that Norton also deactivates ping for security. This is both incomming and outgoing.
I know this sounds like a lot of babble, but it makes sense in my head

Most of the time, it's people with XP or antivirus complaining. XP has a built-in firewall. Also, dns didn't work for a while with eqemu.net. It could be related to that.

Can't the admins give out just the required files to play eqemu, just the files that NEED to be changed. If they would do that, people without the game wouldn't be able to run eq.
If they won't do that, will eqemu catch up to the eqlive patch any time soon?

im pretty sure that wont happen. with all do repsect the devs probably dont give a fuck about the patcher, in other words if it works for u, great if it doesnt, then ur screwed. i'm not really sure why, of all things wouldn't the patcher be fixed first.
at least let some more people play and maybe some better databases/servers would be made or something.

I say we fix EQEMU to match current before we fix a working patcher.

I am having same problems as Valdaor, but I unable to play. I found out an idea, if your EQEmu Patcher works, look at the files it downloads, then take a copy of them from where the directory is you installed them to and zip them. Then you can possibly host them on Geocities seen that EQEmu won't do anything. Also EQEmu has to remember that technology improves everyday and that not everyone is running Windows 98 but a more reliable Windows like XP or Windows 2000 Proffessional and ME. There should be a way round these proxies, all that needs to happen is for the patcher to be hosted differently. If you can't do that, then EQEmu Patcher is screwed for 100's of us. If I could do something, I would.. Why don't you GM's show a little support in the players too. Don't get all uptight about a rude person, I know what he's going through. He just wants to have a nice game of EQEmu that you guys are suppose to provide for us.. well that's all I got to say for now.

Whoever does that is in violation of the agreement he agreed to when he got a username here. DO NOT post those or talk about posting them here. It is not allowed. Risk permanent banning.

See how sad you GM's are.. EQEmu doesn't deserve to exist. I shall inform Sony to prosecute you for legal copyright information! I hope EQEmu comes down for life. You guys are childish little shits with no respect at all. If you are going to run another EverQuest you should be responsable for everything that is going on around here. Not us, but you and stop fucking blaming all this on US. It's freakin' YOUS, NOT US!! Get that in your freakin heads.

First off, you haven't talked to a GM yet. Nor have you spoken to a developer. We are users. We only encourage following the rules. Stop whining. Out of the near year I've been following EQEMU, I have been able to play maybe 6 months of that time.
You've been following the project how long? Just wait until the update comes out... Jeez. Bunch of babies.
These guys don't owe you anything. Stop complaining! It's free, open source. If it doesn't work, fix it yourself. The devs have jobs, families, and other worries than making eqemu work for the maybe 100 people out of several 1000 that can't get it to work.
Patcher is closed source, and is controlled to avoid piracy. It sounds like it does its job too well. Don't blame us.

LOL, EQEmu has been alive for over 2 years (not sure the exact date), and I bet you Sony has know about EQEmu for all 2 years. They can't do anything about it, why? Because this project is legal.
BTW, where did all these whiners come from? I think Vald recruited em all. Used to be such a quiet board..... (with no whiners that is)

Actually you are wrong my friend..
If you read through their eula or whatever its called you will see it clearly states that connecting to another server other than those provided by sony is not allowed and you will be banned. That means EVERYONE here is breaking the rules..
Nice try though.
