Default Running Server and EQ client on one machine.

Possible?

I've read through the faq and the only thing that remotely covers this is:

Quote:
Q. Do I need to use the Loginserver to connect locally?
A. The new released loginserver allows 1 server and 12 accounts, however it is unsupported.
I've read through the RTFM (Readme.html) and the only thing I see there that might cover what I'm looking for is:

Quote:
Part 3 - Hosting your own server on your Minilogin server on Local Network (no internet | supports 1 account)
However this contradicts the FAQ, but I could just be reading it wrong. I get the part about using localhost/127.0.0.1 or even 192.168.1.1.

So here's the deal.

I have one laptop. I have no router, no hub, no switch, no second computer, no internet connection (this connection is not mine and is monitored) no bridge, no cat 5 cable, no tolken ring nothing.

I'm looking for a way to hook this server up on my one laptop, and be able to play EQ on that same laptop using the server I make using EQEmu.

So I cannot patch EQ, and I cannot hook my computer upto the internet in anyway. I can download files and transfer them Via CDRW, however.

I've attempted this process with EthernalEQ and like most people I'm getting 1017 errors. Since Sam seems to be extremely cocky and rude, I've scrapped the idea of using his emulator.

This is the other option. Is this plausable?

All I need is a yes or no Any in depth explanations would definetly be welcome, but I'm more than willing to reread the faq, the readme and all the other posts to get it to work if it's possible.

Thanks in advance, and I have been using "search" But I've only come accross people using local networks and more than 1 computer.

PS:

Operating system is WinXP, DirectX 9.0a, Mobility 6M video, 512MB RAM, 40GB HD, P4 1.8GHz.

I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.

Bump. Wold really love a yes or no. I don't want to download this and play around with everything then wind up posting errors that can't be fixed if this isn't even plausable.

Trying to save time for everyone by asking before diving in.

Yes. The answer is yes.

You will use the minilogin setup in the readme. You will need to:

1. Download and install Mysql from www.mysql.com
2. Download the latest release of EQemu http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/e...2.zip?download
3. Download a database http://forums.eqemu.net/viewtopic.php?t=6176
4. RTFM for the rest.

Sweet, Thanks, I'll do my best not to ask silly questions and not to hassle you guys

I have a little experience with PHP/MySQL and some very limited experience with networks.

I'm hoping that I can work through this without making myself look like too much a fool.
