Default BUGS in 050 DR5

first off, some of these are noted in the thread
http://www.everquestserver.com/forum...ic.php?t=10993

as for the ones i've found,
1. the spells wont scribe when you have the spell on the pointer and you click on your book
2. #scribespells results in your scribed spells becoming that of a cleric.
3. zonelines are beyond busted (aparently fixed in an upcoming csv)
4. some merchants still come up as -insert gm name here- trainers which is a DB issue.
5. disconnection issues when attacking, zoneing... source of disconnection is a real mystery
6. characters will pop in and out, and appear as if they are running away from you ... (lag issue)
7. guards don't assist you when you run to them even if you have excellent faction with them (ie. in your home town) , instead they jump you and help whatever is chasing you.
that's all i've noticed... im going to poke around for more later.

I think the answer to number 4 is here http://www.everquestserver.com/forum...ic.php?t=10937

5 is prob a comp issues are you playing on the same computer your running your world and zone and mysql? if so your computer has to be meaty to handle it

6 is more then likely a bandwidth issue we have less of it on Raevenloft after DR5

7 is a faction fix. unless factions are not 100% in the code.

hope this helps some

tcs has released a database (thanks tcs you rock!) that is compatible with 0.5.0 DR5 (latest cvs as of nov 7)... look for his post... most of these things you described were fixed in this db release.

Are you 100% certain this is happening on the latest code? I had fixed a similiar issue last week. Oh btw, scribing spells is fixed now.

1,2: just dled the most recent cvs AGAIN 20 mins ago, it doesnt work, and the #scribespells is still busted

4: we are using the newest db that TCSMYWORLD put out

5: i have one of the meatiest arrangements for eqemu servers out there world and db run on a 2.7ghz amd barton w/ 2 sticks of coarshair 400 mhz ddr ram and a 16 meg cache on the hd ... so nothing there.... and the zone servers run on a 3.0 amd w/3 sticks of coarsehair 400 mhz ddr ram and this also has a 16 meg cache on the had. it only runs 5 zone servers and when the situation for disconnection arrives, i am always in the same zone, not zoneing... just mucking around

6: its on a LAN.... i dont think we need more then 10/100mbit

7: i was poking thru the source and some of the faction codeing doesnt look too solid, more or less confusing, but i've been trying to debug it

It DOES work, just because you dont have access to our cvs doesnt mean it doesnt work. *Hint* public cvs doesnt equal dev cvs. Oh, and #scribespells isnt important enough right now to work on.

So the CVS version aint the "up to date" version "everyone" is using? Not only do i have to get myself VisualStudio, but now i actually have to be a dev to get this working? hehe..

Well.. One lives in the hope.. :P

Gonna do a cvs compile now tho.. since its been updated today

Yes, the public CVS is up to date, within a few days.. We push things out to pub cvs after its tested a bit on our end so we don't have to listen to endless gripes about development code not working... which we hear anyways.. (Remember, technically our stance is we don't support dev. code/servers, its try at your own risk). We expect people who download and use the dev code to post bugs, code fixes, additions, changes, etc, rather than random 'aa doesnt work' threads...

Development code is for people that want to help the development process in general, not for average users. We don't mind them using it, but understand our ability to support that code is much less, it's not a locked down version.... We created the cvs system as before eqemu users had no glimpse at our development process except for the monthly releases or so.

dually noted, that's why i keep trying to find stuff just incase you aren't aware. i dont mean to offend when i am trying to help
and everytime i set out to fix a piece of the code, i find out that one of the dev's already has repaired it and its out on public cvs again...
either way, im going to fix something, and im not gripeing, just showing what my findings.

Oki.. Thanx for info

I downloaded the public CVS today, and compiled as "Release" in VS6. Using latest DB from TCS, and found it almost unplayable. I dont know if this is a DB problem, or a code problem, but a couple of bugs i found so far :

1. Regeneration seems way off.. It seem to be updated at a second interval instead of "tick" (6 seconds). It also takes a higher jump each tick.. Ie. 2 hp per second, and a 20 hp jump each tick. And when the HP bar increases, it will suddenly take a jump down again.
2. While fighting with a Frog warrior (lvl 65 no aa), i did several "punches" even tho i had 2x 1HS weapons equipped when fighting.
3. A lot of zones causes a zone.exe crash (This might be a DB problem). List of zones not working is too long to list. This worked with the TCS db yesterday compile tho..
4. Spells does not stack.. I cast sow, and valons quickening eg. Vallons will overwrite sow.. Loads of spells (Virtue, Chloro++) show an error with Unknown class 0xxx sumtin (Bah.. should write up theese error messages.. but it has been posted before.. use search :P)

Ill post the zone crashing problem in TCS thread for his updated DB as well..

No offense taken ruby, and we appreciate the help you're giving.. I just wanted to restate the dev teams general stance on the development code for any reading...

There are alot of changes going on right now so expect some instabilities. Lately its been the databases catching up the the code changes.
