Default Having problems creating or editing items

I'm using EqEmu 0.5.3-DR3 with the mw_052_053_alpha2 database. When I create new items (using a new ID) with the ItemEditor 1.6b, everything appears to go into the database correctly, as a query in MySQL shows the item. Yet, when I summon the new item I get an item not found error. When I edit an existing item (1001 Cloth Cap, for example), I get the original item instead of my edited one. Thinking that maybe the ItemEditor was the culprit, I treid the same using MySQLFront. The results are the same. I'm sure I'm forgetting to do some minor thing, but I'm lost at the moment. Could someone be kind enough to give me some pointers? Thanks in advance.

Excellent Thank you very much. That's exactly what the problem was. I was restarting the EQEmu services (world and zone) and MySQL, but didn't think to do a full restart of the machine itself. Now that I did, everything is working flawlessly!
