Default Darn Bugs...

Ok, first lets start off with the first bug.

1. First, i logged in, tried to go into a 5.5 game, and it gave me the 1017 error, i looked on the forums and realised i should patch eqemu. But i didnt know how to patch it...

2. I tried again, desperately trying to get it to work, and i cant even log in! Its just saying that my password and username is invalid. Just Great!

For gods sake help me, because i cant help myself here...

Err, I'm not sure that's a bug but an issue at your end...those are distinctly different things.

First off, were there other folks on the server you were trying to play on?

When was your client last patched?

It's quite unclear from you post what problem you are actually having execept for "Oh no 1017, it must be a bug!"

Oh, i thought it was pretty clear. I am having the 1017 error, but im also having the error where it says my login details were invalid. As for your questions, there were people on this server, and as i said, i dont know how to patch it so if you could tell me how then it would be greatly appreciated.

You can patch just by starting EQ the normal way and patching to Live (The normal Sony EQ servers).

I don't know if that will solve your problem, but that's how you patch.

In your eqemu directory, run everquest.exe. That will patch to live. Then change your eqhost and make sure that you have your shortcut set up right.... That's all you should have to do

For a long time after I (finally) got my server up and running, I was unable to login to it. What I finally ended up doing was completely rebuilding the database and my two users.

After that it's been working fine.

If you're too lazy to go through all the steps in all those DB walkthroughs, then just do the following:
  1. Make sure MiniLogin.exe, World.exe, and Zone.exe are NOT running.
  2. Delete your eq database from MySQL ("DROP DATABASE 'eq';")
  3. Recreate your eq database ("CREATE DATABASE 'eq';")
  4. Populate your database with all the necessary info from here (http://www.raskii.net/eqemu/eqemu055.sql.gz)
  5. Create your eqemu user ("INSERT INTO account (id, name, charname, packencrypt, sharedplat, password, status, lsaccount_id, gmspeed, revoked) VALUES (1, 'eqemu', '', '', 0, 'eqemu', 250, NULL, 0, 0);")
  6. Start MiniLogin.exe
  7. Start World.exe
  8. Start start5zones.bat
  9. Log into your server
  10. Play!
