What I have:
AMD 2600 athlon, 512mb ram, 40gb hd
2048/256 upload download 100% stable aDSL.
A basic knowledge of C++
And 8 years knowledge as an admin of a text based roleplay game.
What i'm looking for, its basically the same reason I created my own rpg a safe place with fairplay rules for me and my wife and friends.
A stable setup that i can just create our own little comunity I dont mind abit of work.
I know its alot to ask but would any server admin be willing to hold my hand show me how to do it is it asking too much to ask for a copy of a stable server?
Now before I get hit for asking that, let me explain why.
8 years ago my wife who was 21 at the time was diagnosed with cancer, now i won't go into details but she went through all the treatment available and in now in the situation of no more treatments taking a drug for the rest of her life that is a catch 22, (interferon) in theory the drug keeps the illness away but as with alot of these types of drugs has really bad side affects no details are needed just to say one day the side affects will be greater than the 6 months left without it. she is already very disabled.
no pitty please we love each other we do everything we can together.
Online gaming is our life after all we can fight monster we can kick ass and explore worlds where every illness can be cured and death is never permanent.
We have played in meridian 59, UO, EQ, SQG, AO, DAOC, Neocron even EQ2.
But always the same problems, how do you explain to those your grouping with that your wifes char hasto go afk for an hour and you don't want to gain xp so you both stay at the same level.
and when your wife puts in her energies to make friends and then when you think they are okay and ask about ooc you mention cancer and they run.
just to have a place of our own that afew friends can join group together, peopel who understand us, to recreate our EQ1 chars.

This is not an excus im not lying and im just explaining the why of my question, we aren't looking for eq live
damn thing was too hard anyway lol.
oh and no i shouldn't haveto do this but a certain game we hadto leave because a rumour was started that it was all a lie. (while i may have the energy to try out and play on others games she doesn't)
