Setting up problem

ok i jsut 550 for a dedicated server, now i let all the updates run and did all that great stuff, but i cannot download the Eqemulator maps file from the webpage i get an error that restarts my computer about halfway through DLing, and i got 3/4 to finish a few times but always the crash. If my memory serves me, isn't .tar a linux file type? because thats what the map pack is or whatever.
