Default Wine w/ Titanium question

A question for those using Titanium with Wine:

I've followed all the directions I could find for running Titanium with Wine, and everything is working perfectly except the character models still don't show up. I'm wondering if anyone has any further suggestions before I take the final step of compiling Wine from source.

System specs:
AMD FX-53
ATI 9800XT (using the proprietary ATI drivers)
Debian Lenny

Using Wine 1.1.33 from the Wine binaries list here. (The Titanium installer crashed on the latest Wine and discussion on the Wine forums seemed to suggest anything after 1.1.33 had issues so I dropped back to 1.1.33).

Modified eqclient.ini as suggested here (vertexshaders=true, texturecache=false).

The site to download the hacked d3dx9_30.dll was down, so I downloaded a copy of the original .dll, modified it using a hex editor as per here (first post just down the page).

Anyone have any suggestions before I move on to modifying/compiling the source? I'm not a terribly avid linux hacker so it isn't the most thrilling prospect...
