People are always looking for something new that catches their attention.
One thing to consider is the reward factor.
The reason EQ is sooo addictive IS the reward factor. If you're not using a level-based system, you will need to ensure that the gear more than compensates.
I don't want to discourage your efforts..but, I don't want to see you fail either. You will really need to focus on the gear in order to make it worth giving up level attainment.
I'm sure some other people will have opinions on this as well
